Austin “Kira” Chandler Smith, age 20, of Temple passed from this life during the evening hours of Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her home. Austin was born in Temple on the 23rd day of December 1999 to parents Jason and Jennifer (Masters) Smith.

Austin graduated from Rogers High School in 2018. She then attended Temple College where she would earn her associate degree. Austin was a member of the Fighting Eagle band and was the mascot during Friday night football games. She was a loving, caring and sensitive person, always putting the feelings of others before her own. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends, playing video games and she was even highly creative when it came to writing stories and articles. Austin will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather.

Austin leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother Jennifer Hollingsworth of Harker Heights, father Jason Smith of Kansas City, Mo., brother Hunter Bowen Smith of Harker Heights and sister Baylee Nichole Smith of Temple as well as many other extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 3 o’clock p.m. at the Hewett-Arney Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at the home of Mattie and Charles Ingram for friends and family to share memories and enjoy in fellowship with one another.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.

I’m heartbroken by the loss of Kira, who was always so sweet and kind. I’ll miss her at our family gatherings, She always made me laugh and I so enjoyed her company. She naturally made others around her feel special. Kira will be missed and I look forward to seeing her again when my time comes.
