Barbara Ann Cruz, age 59, of Killeen passed from this life during the early morning hours of Saturday March 26, 2022 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Temple on the 5th day of December 1962 to parents Ernest and Joveta (Jimenez) Cruz.
Barbara grew up in Temple and spent most of her life in Temple except for the several years that she was travelling with the father of her children, who was in the service. Barbara met Gary Henderson through a mutual friend in 2001 and they have spent the last 21 years loving and building a home together. Barbara loved to have a good time; she enjoyed dancing, playing pool better than all her children and drinking a cold Bud Light while watching her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys on television. She enjoyed watching ghost stories on TV and she never missed her morning coffee. Family meant everything to Barbara. She loved her kids very much, and her heart belonged to her 13 grandchildren. She loved every minute she was able to spend with her family. She was known for her kindness, and willingness to always love and listen with care and always without judgement. She was funny and enjoyed joking with her children and making them laugh. Barbara will be deeply missed by all that we're blessed to know and love her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Joveta, her sons David Anthony Perez and Jessie Perez and one sister Elizabeth Cruz Exposito. Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband the love of her life, Gary Henderson of Killeen, and her eight children; Jessica Rivera of Killeen (child Julian Rivera), Juan Perez (wife Miriam Perez, children Esperanza, Juan Jr, Arturo, Guadalupe, Noel-Santiago and Lionel Perez) of Abilene, Stephanie Perez (children Larissa, Jessie, and Sophia) Thomas Perez, Elizabeth Wilson (husband Lojuan Wilson, children Eliziah, Dexaun, and Leilani) , Becky Perez, and Adam Perez all of Killeen and Joseph Perez who is currently stationed in Virginia. She also leaves behind her siblings Rosemary, Vivian, David, Chris, Jimmy, Judy and Mary Lara.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple on Friday, April 8th, 2022, at 2 p.m.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
