Carl “John” Lukens Jr., age 89, of Moody passed suddenly from this life on the afternoon of Saturday, April 18, 2020 at his residence. Carl was born in Shell Lake, WI on the 19th day of November 1930 to parents Carl Sr. and Anna (Gren) Lukens.

Carl spent his childhood in Shell Lake until April of 1951 when he enlisted with the United States Air Force. Carl proudly served his country for 3 and a half years until he discharged in December of 1952. After he got out of the Air Force, Carl went to work for Richardson Paint Company. Carl worked for Richardson Paint eventually moving to the Austin area until his retirement in 1994. After 4 years of asking Carl and Lula Ann Baggerly finally married in Gary, IN. on October 16, 1967. They built a home and a family together; although Carl and Lula never had any children of their own, there was no short supply of love. With an extended family of siblings, including nieces and nephews, there was always plenty of family to share moments with. When Carl was not working you could find him at home tinkering with little things here and there as he was always a bit of a handyman, fixing and mending whatever needed tending to. He was a lifelong Lutheran and he is a member of the VFW Post 1820 in Temple. He and Lula have been residence of Moody since 1980.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Shirley Lukens.

Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years Lula Lukens of Moody, brother David Lukens, niece Shawna Alt and nephew Travis Lukens all of Prairie Du Sac, WI as well as 1 brother-in-law Joe Baggerly of Camp Creek, TX.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
