Obituary

Cecil Earl “Bubba” Pryor Jr., age 70 of Moffat passed from this life during the evening hours of Friday, January 17, 2020 at a local hospital. Born on 10th day of May 1949 in Belton, Texas he was the son of Cecil Sr. and Martha (Perry) Pryor.

Bubba was graduate of James Madison High School in Houston, Texas. He was a proud Vietnam Era veteran having served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. Bubba met and eventually married Janice Small in 1972 in Liberty, Texas. The newlywed couple would spend the next 47 years together building a life and a family together. Bubba made a career as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a true outdoorsman. He loved riding horses, hunting, fishing and most of all collecting junk. Bubba never let anything go to waste; he always saw the value in a piece of scrap metal or an old broke down car even if those around him couldn’t quite see the significance of the new piece to his collection. Bubba was a somewhat of a quiet man but his family knew that when he spoke up his word was final. He loved his family very much especially his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Missouri City, Texas. He and Janice have lived in Moffat since 1992.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Martha Lucille Pryor.

Left to cherish Cecil’s memory is his wife Janice of Moffat, his daughter Caren Pryor of Bertram, his three sons Cecil “Bubba” Pryor III and James Pryor both of Temple and Timothy Osborne of Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as his two sisters Bobbie Louis Wetz of Wallace and Susan Moore of Harker Heights. He will also be greatly missed by his 13 grandchildren and his great-grandchild with one more on the way.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 3 o’clock p.m. at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home chapel. The family will be accepting visitors before the funeral between the hours of 2 and 3 o’clock p.m. Boyd LeCheminant will be officiating the service.

Bubba’s family requests that no flowers be sent; in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in honor of Bubba’s life.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
