Delarrius O’Neal Wilson, age 45, of Temple passed from this life during the early afternoon hours of Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Born in Bogalusa, La., on the 19th day of March 1975, he is the son of Chandler and Evelyn (Wilson) Duncan.

Delarrius grew up in Temple and attended Temple High School. He was a running back on the 1992 Temple Wildcat football team helping them win the state championship that year. That was the last year Temple won the state title. As a young man after high school Delarrius enlisted into the United States Navy where he would spend the next 10 years serving his country. He was proud to be a veteran of the Navy. He married Sheila McNeil Cobbs while in the Navy. They have spent the last 22 years together building a home and a family wherever it was that the Navy would move them to but after his discharge from the service Delarrius and Sheila would make their way back to Temple where they would settle permanently. Delarrius went on to further his education by earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Ashford University. Delarrius loved his family and he loved spending time with them whether it be a Sunday afternoon after church or an impromptu gathering on a weekday after work. He enjoyed fishing, although he rarely had time to go, and he enjoyed working on cars and writing poetry. He has been a member of Grace Temple Ministries in Temple since 2009 and as a faithful Christian he knew of his eternal reward in heaven when his time here on earth was complete.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Sheila Wilson of Temple and his 3 children Akeel, Kiara and Delicia Wilson all of Temple, as well as his siter LaChanda Wilson of Temple and many other siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is also survived by his parents Chandler and Evelyn and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Temple Ministries Church in Temple on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11 o’clock a.m. with Bishop D.S. McBride officiating. The family will be excepting visitors at the funeral home on Friday evening between the hours of 6 and 8 o’clock p.m. A burial will follow later during the next week at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with the United States Navy honor guard being present.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
