Obituary

Dwaine E. Jackson, age 74, of Little-River Academy passed from this life during the evening hours of Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Born on the 10th day of August 1946 in Temple he was the son of Delmer and Norma (Camp) Jackson.

Dwaine grew up in Academy and attended school there. After high school, in 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army where he spent over 2 years serving his country. Dwaine was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time enjoying the outdoors and all that mother nature has to offer. He cherished the time spent with family and friends and was always the life of the party with his joking mannerisms and constant laughing. Dwaine was a wonderful father, step-father and grandfather to his family and husband to his wife Sara who he married in April of 1989. He also loved his Lord and Savior and knew of the promises of Christ when his time here on earth was complete. Standing well over 6 foot he was a big man with an even bigger heart and the love and compassion he showed to his family and friends will be his lasting legacy for generations to come.

He is preceded in death by his parents Delmer and Norma as well as one brother Wayne Jackson.

Dwaine leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Sara of Little-River Academy, son Jason Jackson and wife Kathryn of Little-River Academy and daughter Amy Pyle and husband Will of Troy. He also leaves step-daughters Gloria Gamino of Cedar Park, Angela Crowell and husband James of Moody, Leslie Vasquez and husband Flo of Temple as well as brothers Doyle Ray, Danny, Tharon and Homer Jackson and sisters Yvonne Campo, Barbara Hamrick, Caroline Ivy and Shirley Whittle. Seven grandchildren are also surviving Megan, Will, Jon-Michael, Travis, Justin, Marissa and Jessica, and three great-grandchildren Elijah, Jayden and Abel.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10 o’clock a.m. at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Elwyn Johnston officiating. A cremation will follow after the service. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service starting at 9 o’clock a.m.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.

Thank you for being our "gentle giant". You truly understood what it means to Love Life. You always made us & everyone around you laugh. You knew laughter is medicine for the soul :) We know your telling jokes with Jesus now, and running up & down the streets of gold. Until we meet again, on that glorious day We miss you and Love you! Love Leslie. Angela, Gloria and family
