Garland Eugene Bartek, age 73, of Temple passed from this life during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his home. Born on the 5th day of March 1946 in Temple he was the son of Louis and Lorene (Surovik) Bartek.
Garland has lived in Bell County for his entire life. During his early years he attended school in Academy where he did graduate high school. After high school he enlisted into the United States Navy where he proudly served his country. In December of 1977 Garland married Lillian Harris. Together they have walked hand in hand for the past 41 years building a life together. Garland built a career as a brakeman and a switchman for the railroad. After 22 years at the railroad he went on to work at Wilsonart for several years. He loved to be outside. He took pride in a well-manicured lawn and enjoyed to bar-b-que whenever he got the chance. After a long day of working outside you could always find Garland watching a little bit of TV before bedtime with a bowl of Blue-Bell ice cream. Garland has been a Catholic for his entire life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lorene, 1 brother Norman Bartek and 1 grandson Joshua Culp.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Lillian Bartek of Temple, son Damon Bartek and daughter Kristen Culp both of Heidenheimer and son Shawn Fontz of Troy. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
