Obituary

GeorgeAnn Pittman, age 78, of Temple passed from this life during the early morning hours of Friday, January 31, 2020 at a Temple care facility. GeorgeAnn was born on the 24th day of June 1941 in Merkel, Texas to Jesse and Theda (Kinsey) Rister.
GeorgeAnn grew up in Merkel and graduated from Merkel High School. She married Rev. Zeph Pittman in Merkel on June 20, 1959. Together the newlywed couple would build a home and eventually add three daughters and one son to the family. GeorgeAnn loved her family; she loved to cook for them and was lovingly known as Memaw. She worked for over 30 years for Scott & White as a file clerk and she also worked for Rogers ISD and for the school in Seaton when it was open. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Temple and has been a resident of Temple for the past 52 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Zeph, her parents, one daughter Loraine Pittman and two great-grandsons Christopher Daniel Marmon and Christopher Marmon Jr.
GeorgeAnn leaves behind to cherish her memory two sisters, Theda Hanshew and Carla Berry, two daughters Emma Marmon of Temple, Cindy Marmon and husband Kenneth of Temple, as well as one son Calvin Pittman and wife Linda of Temple. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren Christopher, Stephen, Jonathan and Daniel Marmon, Krystal, Ryan, Audra and Laura Pittman. Also surviving are her ten great-grandchildren Eli and Eva Cole as well as Beau, Gunnar, Russell, Raelene and Gloria Marmon, Tierre Sams, Noah Fitzpatrick and Ember Rose Marmon-Lopez, one great-great grandchild Cecilia Morgan. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will be accepting visitors at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple on Monday, February 3rd between the hours of 6 and 8 o’clock p.m. A graveside funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 2 o’clock p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, Texas.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
