Gerald Wayne Ellison, age 71, of Gatesville passed from this life during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Tx.

Born in rural Gregg County, Texas on the 21st day of October 1948 he was the son of A.C. and Dorothy (Treybig) Ellison.

As a child Gerald’s family moved out to west Texas; Gerald would spend his childhood and most of his adult life in the west Texas areas around Ft. Stockton, Pecos, and Odessa. He started his working career in the oil fields, but he had a strong passion for flying and working on airplanes. He soon obtained his private pilot license and his love of flying quickly became evident. Gerald went on to become a Certified Avionics Installer and Diagnostic Technician. He worked on planes for General Dynamics and also AMI for many years.

Gerald married Gloria Kay Ellison and together they brought two sons into the world, Casey and Shawn. As life would have it the two parted ways years ago but the bond they shared as parents was never broken.

Gerald moved to Coryell County 10 years ago to be closer to his son Shawn. He worked most recently for Gatesville ISD as a bus driver which he really enjoyed.
Gerald enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, scuba diving and riding his motorcycle, but his favorite thing to do was to go out dancing with his many friends at several different area country dancehalls. Gerald will be very missed by many friends and loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Zane and Michael Ray Ellison.

Gerald leaves to cherish his memory his two sons: Shawn and wife Melissa Ellison of Jonesboro, Casey Ellison and wife Ellen Cocal of Montgomery as well as his two grandchildren Brittany and Sebastian Ellison. He is also survived by His Aunt and Uncle Gene and Jane Treybig of Boerne, Tx, and many cousins including Melanie Lyle of Gladewater, Tx.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
