Obituary

James K. (Jim) Ong of Plano, TX passed peacefully from this life during the morning hours of Tuesday January 7, 2020. He was 93.

He was born on the 25th of July 1926 to Harold and Mae (Coppin) Ong in Spring Valley, Illinois.

Jim had many achievements in his life. He attended both Milton College and the University of Illinois and was a loyal soldier in the United States Army having served in WWII in Europe. Above all however, he was a devoted husband to the love of his life Peg Hart, whom he married on October 2, 1948. The couple had an amazing 71 years together; from raising their three daughters to traveling the United States for 28 years in various motor homes. They loved and enjoyed the company of each other and the life they had built together.

Jim was affiliated with several organizations throughout his life, including the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the VFW, the American Legion, AMAC and Silver Wings. His dedication to service, his love of country, and his always helpful persona are just a few of the things that made Jim so loved by all that got to know him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mae, as well as his brothers Charles M. and Harold “Buddy” Jr.

Jim leaves many behind to cherish his memory, including his beloved wife Peg, his daughters Kathy Kramer (Tommy), Christine Scherr (Gil), and Janet Heise (Dale). He also leaves behind a granddaughter Jessica Wilson (Danny) and three great grandchildren, Jacob, Hayden and McKenna.
