Obituary

Jimmy Don Nichols, age 84, of Temple passed from this life during the late afternoon hours of Sunday, August 2, 2020 at a local care facility. He was born in Tyler on the 15th day of June 1936 to parents Robert and Maude (Masters) Nichols.

Jimmy grew up around New Salem, Texas. As a young man he traveled to Ft. Worth and then made his way to Temple. He married the love of his life, Betty Henson, in Buckholts, Texas in 1955. The two would build a home and a life together that would eventually include 3 daughters. Jimmy worked for many years and retired from Ralph Wilson Plastics. He had a passion for the Temple Wildcats and considered himself their #1 fan for many years. He loved motorcycles, camping and league bowling. He loved to travel and loved being outdoors. He has been a resident of Temple since 1957.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years Betty, 1 daughter Cindy Dixon, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Sherry Inscore of Temple and daughter Denise Bowen of Killeen as well as 1 sister Ann Holt of Kilgore. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Moffat Cemetery at 10 o’clock a.m. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday night between the hours of 6 and 8 o’clock p.m.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
