Obituary

Jose Lopez Ortiz of Belton, passed from this life in the late-night hours of Tuesday December 10, 2019 at a local hospital, surrounded by family. He was 67 years old.
Mr. Ortiz was born on the twentieth day of February 1952 in Miguel Negrete, Durango – Mexico to Guillermo and Maria (Del Carmen) Ortiz. One of seven children, Jose would grow up, marry the love of his life Maria Oliva in April of 1975, and settle down in Belton, Texas. Throughout his time in Belton, he worked at Belco Manufacturing and owned the Taco Loco Restaurant. He and Maria had four children, all which Jose loved dearly. Mr. Lopez was a member of Templo Evangelista in Temple, Texas.
Mr. Ortiz is preceded in death by his parents Guillermo & Maria Ortiz. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria, his children Jacqueline White of Belton, Veronica Mireles of Arlington, Lorena Rodriguez of Temple and Juan Jose Lopez also of Temple. Mr. Ortiz also leaves behind his siblings Lucio Lopez of Belton, Jesus Lopez of Dallas, Antonio Lopez of Chicago, Juana Venegas of Wisconsin, Aurora Lopez of Wisconsin and Silvia Diaz, also of Wisconsin. Mr. Ortiz was a grandfather to eight wonderful grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Ortiz will take place this week, with a viewing from 6-8pm on Friday December 13, 2019 at Hewett-Arney Funeral home, and a funeral service at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 11am. Mr. Ortiz will be buried following the service at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Hno Jose will be truly missed! He loved to talk and had a beautiful voice who loved singing to the Lord! He was faithful! I will always remember his testimonies he would give at church and his delicious food! He was such a great cook! God bless his family!
