Joseph (Joey) Lawrence Brasher, age 53, of Belton passed from this life during the evening hours of Monday, July 1, 2019 at a local hospital. Born on the 9th day of June 1966 in Chicago, IL Joey was the son of Larry and Lynne (Gardner) Brasher.

In his early years Joey graduated from high school in Glenview, IL. Joey had a very kind and gentle soul. He was a friend to all and trusted those he loved with his whole heart. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending a lot of his time with them especially his dog Lily and his great-niece Rowan. He was a die hard “Trekkie” (Star Trek the original and the Next Generation) and enjoyed learning about history, especially World War II. When not spending time with family Joey could be found building Star Trek or WWII themed models and if he wasn’t doing that he may be headed down to the hobby shop as far away as Georgetown to find just the right color of paint to make his model as authentic as possible. Joey has been a resident of Belton for the past 12 years. He was a faithful Christian. Joey was very much loved by his family and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.

Joey is preceded in death by his father Larry Brasher.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother Lynne Brasher of Belton, 1 brother Larry Brasher and wife Ellen of Belton and 1 aunt Tina Brasher of Hoffman Estates, IL. He also leaves behind his niece Avriel Burns of Temple, nephew Julian Burns of Reno, NV, nephew Thaison Metz of Salt Lake City, UT, niece Autumn Metz of Salt Lake City, UT and 1 great-niece Rowan Fowler of Temple.

A graveside funeral service will be held at North Belton Cemetery in Belton at 11:30 o’clock a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.

We would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family. With deep sympathy, we share your sorrow, after the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories that we’ve shared with our loved ones who have passed, this is what keeps them alive in our hearts and in our minds, and they will continue to live on, through us. May God give you the strength to endure the pain you are going through and may he embrace you and comfort your family during this difficult time."Jesus said to her: 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.'"-John 11:25
