Obituary

Juaquin R. Hernandez Sr., a lifelong resident of Temple, Texas, passed from this life on Monday March 9, 2020 in a local hospital. He was 73.

Juaquin was born to Hijinio Sr. and Aurora (Resendez) Hernandez on April 6, 1946. One of nine children, Juaquin went to school in Troy and was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Church Inc. where he was a trustee and VP of the charter church. He married Alice Fuentes in 1965 in Belton, Texas and the two spent 58 years building a family that would include four children that were beloved by Juaquin, and whom he was very proud of.

He was a hard-working man. Throughout his life he worked for O’dell Geer as an asphalt foreman (35 years), Lonestar Grading (15 years), and most recently RW McKinney & TL James (5 years). When not working, Juaquin could be found fishing, shopping at a local flea market, spending time with his three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, or napping at home.

He is preceded in death by his baby girl Frances, his great-grandson Ryan Hernandez, parents Hijinio & Aurora, and his brother Flortino Hernandez.

Juaquin leaves many behind to cherish his memory, including his dear wife Alice and his children; Juaquin Jr (Linda), Angela, Elizabeth and Ana Alicia (all of Temple, Texas). He also leaves behind six brothers: Hijinio Jr., Guadalupe (Mary), Jesse (Linda), Joe, Rick (Irene), and John (Louisa), as well as a sister Virginia Ortega all of Temple, Texas. Mr. Hernandez leaves behind three grandchildren; Juaquin III, Kristine Rodriguez, and Krystal Hernandez, as well as five great-grandchildren; Avery, Brooklyn, Olivea, Melody and Steven Ryan.

A funeral service for Mr. Hernandez will take place today, March 11, 2020 at 11:00am at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Guillen officiating.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
