Katherine Annette Rodgers, age 57, of Temple passed peacefully from this life during the evening hours of Thursday, February 6, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Abilene, Texas on the 2nd day of September 1962 she was the daughter of Ted and Sonja Strickland.
Being the child of an enlisted Navy man Katherine moved around quite a bit in her younger days. She spent time in Texas as well as quite a bit of her childhood in Florida. Life brought her to Bell County in 1985 when she met and married her best friend Larry Rodgers. The newly married couple would settle in the Troy area where they would build a home and raise a family. Being that the kids were going to Troy schools she decided to take up a job with the school. She worked in the cafeteria at the elementary, middle and high schools. When her kids would move up to another school, she would do the same. She volunteered for many school functions and as a crossing guard after school let out. Her family was her life. When not spending time with family you could find her taking care of her many potted plants and flowers. She had an exceptional green thumb and could make anything grow and blossom. She was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Troy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Sonja.
Katherine leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Larry Rodgers of Temple, son Early Rodgers of Mississippi, son Justin Rodgers of Temple, daughter Sherry Rodgers of Mississippi and her son Jeffrey Christman. She also leaves 1 sister Amanda Strickland of Killeen as well as 8 grandchildren.
Services for Katherine are still pending.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
