Obituary

Lowell Dean Masley, age 62, of Temple passed from this life peacefully with his family by his side during the evening hours of Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. Born on the 3rd day of November 1957 in Anderson, Indiana he was the son of Loren and Betty (Spencer) Masley.

Lowell grew up and spent his childhood in Indianapolis, Indiana. After grade school Lowell would continue his education in several different colleges and universities but would eventually graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Lowell was a man of many talents and interests. He made a career out of sculpting, designing and inventing medical simulators for Laerdal Medical in Gatesville for over 30 years. The products he has designed have saved the lives of so many over the years by offering the most up to date and advanced training for medical personnel all over the world. In 1993 Lowell married his life partner and best friend Zita Lenkaite. Together the newlywed couple would spend their days building a home and a family. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with one another, especially taking cruises and going to concerts and opera performances together.

Lowell was a very broad-minded person, always interested in learning about new things and different cultures. He enjoyed nature and all the beauties that it has to offer; he loved watching wildlife and camping out in the woods. Lowell was a man of deep faith. He gained strength in the Lord through many hours of prayer and reading the Bible. Lowell knew of his eternal reward with God in heaven when his time here on earth was complete. He has been a resident of Temple since 1995.

Lowell leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Zita Masley of Temple, daughter Jennifer Masley of Ohio, parents Loren and Betty Masley of Florida, and 3 sisters Linda Masley of Florida, Ruth Masley of Illinois and Beth Keltz of Massachusetts. He also leaves many friends at Laerdal Medical as well as extended family.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 o’clock a.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Harlan Haines will be officiating the service.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
