Malcolm Nolen Martin, age 84, of Temple passed from this life during the early afternoon hours of Friday, July 12, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Born on the 3rd day of August 1934 in Tulsa, OK Malcolm was the son of Warrick and Frances (Stalcup) Martin.

In his early years Malcolm attended school at Central High School in Tulsa. After completing high school, he enlisted into the United States Army. Malcolm served his country proudly from 1953 to 1956. After his time in the service Malcolm would go on to attend Oklahoma State University where he would earn his bachelor’s degree in engineering. Malcolm built a longtime career as an instrumentation and controls engineer. He was a Certified Professional Engineer for many years. He worked most recently for Brown and Root before his retirement.

Malcolm married Paula Gilbert in Jacinto City, Texas on March 12, 1976. They enjoyed walking hand in hand together in life making memories and sharing each other’s company. Malcolm loved the outdoors and enjoyed everything that nature had to offer. He liked to fish and ski as well as take care of his flower beds and yard. Malcolm enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he had a passion for reading and learning about new things. He has been a resident of Temple for the past 3 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents Warrick and Frances.

Malcolm leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Paula of Temple, son Steven Lee Gilbert and wife Leslie of Austin, grandson Logan Gilbert and granddaughter Ainsley Gilbert both of Austin as well as many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 1 o’clock p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with the United States Army rendering its final salute.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
