Pooniya “Maggie” Sankar, age 70 of Temple passed from this life during the evening hours of Monday, December 16, 2019 at a Temple hospital. Born on the 17th day of September 1949 in Mamoral, Trinidad, Maggie was the daughter of Bisnath and Rampiarie (Ramdial) Ragoonanan.

Maggie grew up and spent the majority of her life in her home country of Trinidad. She made her way to the United States in 1988 and then to Temple in 2009. She was a loving mother and grandmother who had a deep faith for Jehovah. When she was still able to, she would regularly attend services at the Kingdom Hall in Temple. Maggie enjoyed cooking, watching MeTV, working in her flower gardens and especially tending to her roses. She enjoyed bible studies with her family and loved going for walks and praying with her granddaughter Cassien.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister.

Maggie leaves behind to cherish her memory her 6 children Cynthia Bharath of Katy, Natalie Wilson of Temple, Debbie and Sheldon Sankar both of Baltimore, MD, Cedric Sankar of Temple, Leah Sankar of Perryville, MD as well as 6 grandchildren, 7 sisters, 6 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will happen at a later date.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
