Obituary

Rose Catherine Klandrud, born on New Year’s Eve 1947 in Weslaco, Texas, passed away on November 22, 2019 after a lengthy journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She attended Saint Joseph Catholic School in Alamo, Texas through the 8th grade. In 1965, after graduating from PSJA high school in Pharr, Texas, Rose began working as a switchboard operator for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in McAllen. In 1967, Rose married Leonard Klandrud in Alamo, Texas. After living 3 years in Germany and 6 years in the Rio Grande Valley, the family moved to Temple in 1976. Rose earned an Associate’s Degree from Temple Junior College and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mary Hardin Baylor in 1979. She spent the following 25 years as a special education teacher with the Temple ISD. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Kristy Treybig of Cedar Park and Lori Hendy of Salado, and 4 granddaughters, Amber Kristy, Maci Lori, Jule Rose, and Ella Catherine. A “private family memorial” will be held to honor her memory. Arrangements are being directed by Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple.
