Royace Marie Hawkins, age 98, of Little River-Academy passed from this life during the early morning hours of Monday, February 15, 2021 at a local care facility. Born on the 23rd day of November 1922 in Holland, Texas she was the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle (Crawford) Lasiter.
Royace grew up in Little River, graduated from Little River High School and has lived there almost her entire life. She married Charles Hawkins in the late 1940’s in Temple and the two moved to West Virginia for a number of years until Charles’s death. Royace moved back to Bell County where she would remain. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moffat for many years. Royace worked for Service Merchandise for many years until the company sold and then she worked for the Social Security Administration until her retirement. She loved to keep a clean yard and take care of her children and grandchildren. She will be very missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, daughter Virginia Jeffcoat, daughter Patricia Sedlock, son Charles M. Hawkins, two grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and two sisters.
Royace leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Cindy Bennett and husband Keith of Hico, WV., son Frank Hawkins and wife Beverly of Fisherville, VA., and son RP Hill and wife Paula of Oenaville as well as 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple at 10:30 o’clock a.m. with Pastor Jerry Wayne Fellers officiating. The burial will follow at Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Monday night between the hours of 6 and 8 o’clock p.m.
