Obituary for Sharon Ann Smith

Sharon Ann Smith, age 75, formerly of Temple, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in Conroe, Texas. Born on the 28th day of April 1945 in Coral Gables, Florida she was the daughter of CPT Gordon William Siler USAF and Juanita LaVerne (Southerland).

Sharon grew up in rural Bell County outside of Temple on a cotton farm. Her father worked the land and was stated to have started the first irrigation system in Temple and her mother worked at a local shoe store as well as caring for Sharon and her brother Gene. While in school Sharon began to date Kenneth Lynn Smith. The sweethearts date for over 7 years before going off to college where Sharon would study nursing and Ken would enlist into the United States Navy. Three years after high school and after Ken’s military service the couple would wed and set out to build a life and a home together. Sharon and Ken’s home would eventually include two children Becky and Brian.

After her service as a nurse Sharon decided to change careers; she worked has a real estate agent for a while, was an employee of FedEx as well as a teacher at New Caney High School; while working at the school Sharon received an award for the most worked volunteer hours at the school. Sharon’s most recent employment was for Allied Security as a security guard. Sharon’s main passion was to take care of those that were less fortunate than herself and share her love for Jesus Christ to all that she helped. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Sharon was a believer in her faith; she knew that God would provide for her and her family and that promise was never left unfulfilled. Sharon loved her family. They were the center of her earthly world. She had a givers soul, constantly taking care of everyone around her. She also loved to take care of her vegetable garden, flowers and even animals that found their way into her arms. The love, care, and compassion that Sharon had for all life will be the legacy she leaves for generations to come.

She is survived by her two children Rebecca Davis & husband Tom and Brian Smith as well as her grandchildren Chris and Summer Davis, and Ocean Giles and husband Jeremy. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Kaylee, Lily, Jesse, Calvin, and Jacob Giles.

A memorial service will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple, Texas on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10 o’clock a.m. with a burial of ashes to follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
