Obituary

Thomas V. Korton, aka “Chico” age 74, of Temple passed from this life during the late morning hours of Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his home. Born on the 21st day of June 1946 in Los Angeles, Ca. he was the son of William and Beverly (Berrier) Korton.

Thomas grew up in California. He attended Elementary School in Watts, Ca. and John D. Dewey JH school in Long Beach. As a young man Thomas enlisted with the United States Navy where he earned his GED. He spent 3 years as a Naval Seaman and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Thomas married Cathy Jo Anderson in Snyder, Texas on June 16, 1969. Together the couple built a home and a family that included 4 children. Thomas loved to vacation anywhere it was warm, sand and water and must have swim-up bar. He loved to be outside and loved to ride motorcycles. He loved to plant seeds, any and all kinds of seeds. He planted papaya seeds and was even grew a banana tree from seed. He always requested that Cathy save seeds from anything so he could try and make them grow. He has been a resident of Temple for the past 2 1/2 years after moving here from Meridian, Idaho where they lived for 47 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Beverly, sister Deann Wilson and brother Danny Alley.

Thomas leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Cathy Korton of Temple, daughter Heather Smith of Pekin, In., son Thomas Eric Korton of Kuna, Id., daughter Heidi Smith of Nampa, Id., and daughter Amber Korton of Boise, Id. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Discovery Park. Lunch and drinks will be served at 12:00. Any and all who knew Chico are encouraged to come. If you have a motorcycle we'd love you to ride it as well, he would love a biker rally in his honor. Also we are encouraging anyone who would like to speak and share how he touched your life or who he was to you.

Military honors will be rendered in his honor as well.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
