Obituary

Wendell A. Dodge Sr. of Temple passed from this life peacefully in the evening hours of Wednesday, January 22, 2019 at a local care facility. He was 80 years old.

Wendell was born on March 3, 1939 in Clinton, Maine to Ralph and Marjorie (Wendell) Dodge. Wendell was one of seven children. Throughout his life he would serve in the United States Army, he would move to Texas and he would meet the love of his life Rita Weaks. The couple married on February 14, 1997 and spent their life together raising their children and enjoying each other’s company. He was a machinist by trade and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking as well as jewelry making. Wendell was a kind and caring man who could always bring a smile to the face of anyone he met. He made friends wherever he was and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed by all those who got to know him.

Wendell is preceded in death by his parents Ralph & Marjorie as well as 1 sisters.

Wendell is survived by his wife Rita (Weaks) Dodge, of Temple, his son Wendell Dodge Jr. of Rockdale, his son Charles Williams (Michelle) of Georgetown, his son Rodney Williams (Valerie) or Thrall, his brothers Randall, Kendall and Dale Dodge, his sisters Elaine Hamlet & Mary Conners, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved chihuahua, Chica.

A memorial service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 10 o'clock a.m. with Judy Hoelscher officiating.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
