Obituary

William “Bill” Don Brunner, age 71 of Temple passed from this life during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at William R. Courtney State Veterans Home in Temple. Born on the 15th day of April 1948 in Leavenworth, Kansas he was the son of W.A. and Emma (Williams) Brunner.

During his early years Bill served in the United States Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran having served on the U.S.S. Constellation and the U.S.S. Coral Sea during the war. Bill made his career with Scott & White Hospital in Temple as a master plumber for many years before retiring. He could make or fix anything that needed mending and he enjoyed working out in the yard keeping the grass cut just right and making sure the flowers and plants were taken care of. Bill enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle when he was a bit younger and fish off a 50-year-old boat that he restored. Bill most of all loved his family and being a grandfather. Bill married Beverly Creek in March of 2005; since that time, they have built a home and a life together. His love for his family and his dedication to hard work will be the legacy that will be passed on for generations to come. He has been a resident of Temple for the past 15 years.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents as well as his step-daughter Crystal and his beloved dogs Little-Tex and Jordan.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Beverly Brunner of Temple, 2 daughters Heather Brunner and Leslie Moyer, 2 step-sons William L. Creek III and wife Nichol and Brandon Frank Creek Sr. and wife Christina and 4 siblings Connie Hachenberg, Susan Vornholt, Charles Brunner and Glenn Brunner. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Halley McKnight as well as Jasmine, Crystal, Brandon Jr., Treycee and Mason Creek.

The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses’ aids and sitters who cared for Bill at the William R. Courtney State Veterans Home. Bill received excellent care also from the VA Hospital in Temple by all the doctor and nursing staff and the sitters that attended to him.
